DIY Advertising – No budget concept-to-customer in nothing flat

Have to admit I had a What Hath God Wrought moment when I found this in my inbox. Now we can create and place ad campaigns, then get immediate viewer metrics with a few clicks.

The video is easy to follow and kinda cute…watch for the hand swiping a power bar off the presenter’s desk while he’s telling us how easy it is to build ads and place them on Facebook – which is expected to engulf all forms of “traditional” online display advertising in the next few years, per industry watchers.

After posting your ad and breaking for lunch, you can come back and check what kind of viewership the ad garnered. So, farewell J. Walter Thompson: adios Nielsen, that cute little monkey-in-a-hat that pushes out e-newsletters is taking over your turf. Do the ads get results? Who knows. Is it as easy as they make it look? Probably not. But creating your own ad campaign, placing your own media and receiving an instant post-analysis is now officially a thing.

I’m all for progress, I embrace change; this is really cool. Still, nobody wears a fedora like Don Draper…
